Sam Allardyce thinks Chelsea’s decision to send Christian Pulisic back on loan to Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season could be a mistake.
Pulisic completed a £57.6million move to the Blues early on in January before being allowed to remain with the Bundesliga leaders for six months.
The Blues lost to Bournemouth 4-0 during the week, which represented their heaviest loss in the Roman Abramovich era.
They do have a wealth of attacking options following Gonzalo Higuain’s arrival from Juventus on loan, while they managed to hold on to Callum Hudson-Odoi.
However, Allardyce thinks letting the 20-year-old stay could mean it’s a while before Chelsea see the best out of him next campaign.
“I am staggered and shocked,” Allardyce told Sky Sports News.
“What if he does an ACL [anterior cruciate ligament] over there?
“You invest that much money and then you have the settling in period… next season, who knows, he might come in and struggle.”
