Pep Guardiola has the most expensive team in Europe at his disposal, but it is Spurs star Harry Kane who is the Premier League’s most valuable player
Manchester City have the most valuable squad in all of Europe’s top five leagues, with Tottenham Hotspur a close second.
According to research from the CIES Football Observatory on the aggregate transfer values of each player in their team, City are one of four teams with a collective squad worth more than €1 billion.

With a value estimated at €145 million, Kevin De Bruyne is the most expensive player in City’s team, but in Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus, Pep Guardiola has three others at his disposal rated to be worth more than €100m. Overall, the current league leaders’ squad is worth €1.196bn
The Premier League’s most valuable player does not play in light blue, however. Yet again on fire for Tottenham with 13 goals in 14 games to add to four in his last four England appearances, Harry Kane is valued at €186m by CIES, though it falls short of the reported €225m Spurs are said to be demanding from Real Madrid.
With the star forward boosting them, Spurs’ team is tallied up with a worth of €1.173bn, just €23m less than City, and €43m more valuable than Barcelona (€1.130bn).
Surprisingly, Lionel Messi is not Barca’s most expensive star. Despite his struggles to find the net this term, it is Luis Suarez who tops the list at €134m.
Chelsea (€1.044bn) and Manchester United (€919m) complete the top five with Eden Hazard (€121m) and Romelu Lukaku (€165m) their top-valued players respectively.
Powered by Cristiano Ronaldo – rated at €96m – Real Madrid (€903m) are not far behind, with Liverpool (€901m) breathing down their necks.
Although Neymar’s true price of €218m is close to the €222m Paris Saint-Germain paid for him, the Ligue 1 side are the eighth top side, with a tag of €864m.
Atletico Madrid (€800m) are the third Spanish presence in the top 10, with their top man and reported Premier League target Antoine Griezmann worth €147m with Serie A champions Juventus the top Italian team at €743m.
