Roma director of football Monchi has reacted to speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal.
Arsenal are seeking to appoint a new head of recruitment to replace Sven Mislintat, who will be vacating the post next month.
As ever when any sporting director role at a high-profile club becomes available, Monchi has been linked.
The Spaniard has forged a worldwide reputation as a bloody great lad through his time with Sevilla (where he worked with Unai Emery) and now Roma, identifying cheap talent that a club can develop and sell on for huge profit.
Arsenal could most certainly do with those traits due to their lack of any actual money, so Monchi would be a sensible appointment.
The 50-year-old, who signed a four-year contract with Roma in April 2017, is flattered by the rumours.
“I know my name is being associated with Arsenal but I am concentrating on my job with Roma,” he told The Sun.
“However it is a pleasure being linked with a club like Arsenal – but it is not first time that happens.”
