Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has responded to rumours that he met up for a meal with former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane on Tuesday evening.

Pochettino and Zidane have both been heavily linked with the Manchester United job, while the Argentinian has been a rumoured target for Real in the past.

And The Sun reported on Thursday that Pochettino had dined with the France legend and left via the back door, ‘sparking Real Madrid rumours’.

However, Pochettino has dismissed it as a complete coincidence as he was dining with assistant manager Jesus Perez before bumping into Zidane for a quick two-minute chat.

“Yes it was very nice,” Pochettino said of the meeting.

“I was with Jesus and another person. We were three and that is all the history. Only we say hello because we met by coincidence.

“Yes, but it was Jesus who told me look in the corner and I turned and it was these two people. We finished at the same time, he came to say hello and we spent two minutes talking and we split and went home.”
