Chris Sutton thinks that Jurgen Klopp’s admission that his Liverpool side “did not enjoy the game at West Ham” was very “alarming”.

The Reds took the lead on Monday night through Sadio Mane before Michail Antonio equalised for the Hammers and the Reds were lucky to escape with a 1-1 draw.

That results has left the door open for Manchester City to leapfrog Klopp‘s men at the top of the Premier League when they travel to Goodison Park on Wednesday night.

And Sutton wasn’t convinced by Klopp’s post-match reaction against the Hammers, picking out one particularly concerning aspect.

“After losing at Newcastle, Guardiola could have pointed to the disallowed Sergio Aguero goal but only talked about the display,” Sutton told the Daily Mail.

“Most alarming was Klopp’s admission that his players did not enjoy the game at West Ham. If you can’t enjoy the challenge, then you are finished. Guardiola has the better poker face.”

Sutton also thinks Klopp has made a massive mistake by allowing Nathaniel Clyne to leave on loan to Bournemouth.

“Liverpool’s lack of depth is alarming. Letting Clyne leave on loan — with no ability to recall him — is the biggest mistake Klopp has made at Liverpool. It could cost them the title,” Sutton added.

“Milner did a valiant job at right back but Liverpool missed his influence in midfield. Neither Adam Lallana nor Naby Keita turned up at West Ham, but they weren’t the only ones. How many times did Roberto Firmino misplace passes?

“This was one of Liverpool’s worst performances so far. They were vulnerable at set-pieces and toothless in attack. Bournemouth on Saturday is huge.

“Liverpool need a convincing win. Clyne will not be involved as he cannot play against his parent club. How Klopp must wish he could call him down from the stands!”
