Here is yet another reason to love gruff, outspoken Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. On April 21, Popovich dined at a restaurant in Memphis where his Spurs are squaring off against the Grizzlies in round one of the NBA playoffs. He racked up a hefty $800 tab with an unknown number of diners and was in a good enough mood to drop a $5,000 tip, despite his team having lost the day before.

That amount exceeds the customary 15-20 percent tip. In fact, that’s a 613 percent tip.

The restaurant won’t confirm the story, but that’s Pop’s signature. He also has a history of doing this sort of thing, though not quite to the same extent.
