Jamie Carragher thinks Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will have to choose whether to rest players in the Champions League latter stages if they want to win the Premier League title.
The Reds are currently two points ahead of Manchester City in the Premier League, although Pep Guardiola’s men have a game in hand on their rivals.
Meanwhile, Liverpool face Porto in the Champions League quarter-finals and City take on fellow Premier League side Tottenham.
And Carragher thinks that Klopp should rest key players in Europe even if the Reds meet Manchester United at the semi-final stage.
“I think the big decision both managers have, or certainly Jurgen Klopp will have, is the Champions League semi-final,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“Pep will still go strong on that.
“It will be a big thing – what will Jurgen Klopp do in a big semi-final with a league game coming?
“He knows how much Liverpool and Liverpool supporters want to win the league.
“If Liverpool are in pole position for the league, I’d have no problem with him resting players against Manchester United.
“The league is bigger than anything for Liverpool.”
