Ander Herrera’s agent asked Manchester United for a five-year contract worth £300,000 a week, according to Forbes.

The Spanish midfielder is said to have agreed a £200,000-a-week contract with PSG, but this latest report claims that United offered him more than that figure to stay.

‘The club have been in discussions with the player about a new contract since early 2018, and made multiple offers, and this was the final one,’ writes Sam Pilger, who claims that Herrera’s agent rebuffed every offer from the Manchester club.

The last offer was reportedly for over £200,000 a week – more than double his current salary – over four years, but Herrera’s agent was pushing for more money over a longer contract.

Herrera is now expected to leave United this summer – along with Juan Mata, Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo and Alexis Sanchez.

He is currently injured, with United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer intimating that uncertainty about his future might have exacerbated his problems.
