Arsene Wenger fears “destiny” is against Liverpool this season as they fight Manchester City for the Premier League title.
Sergio Aguero’s goal at Turf Moor on Sunday gave City a 1-0 win over Burnley and lifted the champions back above Liverpool to the top of the table.
City are clear favourites and have their destiny in their hands but Jurgen Klopp’s men remain just a point behind.
Liverpool travel to Newcastle next on Saturday and Wenger, who left Arsenal last summer, thinks the Reds could potentially come unstuck against Rafa Benitez’s outfit.
“There’s still hope but they go to Newcastle,” Wenger told beIN Sports. “Newcastle is not an easy place for Liverpool. I’m scared for Liverpool even with one game to go that Manchester City will already have won it but they will fight until the end.
“It looks like there’s a destiny that is against Liverpool. They dominated for such a long period in English football and suddenly from 89-90 until today they cannot win the Premier League. Every time there is small things against them.”
