Marcelo Bielsa’s side travel to the Den as they face Millwall in their first game after the international break

Leeds United travel to south London to take on Millwall at the Den on Saturday to continue in a long-running rivalry between the two clubs.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have got off to a flying start, currently sitting top of the table with 14 points and unbeaten in the league.

Millwall haven’t had quite the same success, losing three games in a row and accumulating just five points so far, with their last game against Swansea just before the international break ending in a 2-1 defeat.

The two sides met at the exact same weekend last season, when Leeds were also top of the table and on an unbeaten run, resulting in a 1-0 win for Millwall. The reverse fixture at Elland Road also saw the Lions take three points, winning 4-3.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s fixture.

Leeds have got off to a good start in the Championship after an unbeaten run in the league and will want three points to retain their position when they face Millwall on Saturday. Meanwhile the Lions are currently 16th, having won just one game so far and off the back of three losses in a row.

Millwall forward Lee Gregory spoke about the Lions recent form and how they’re moving on from their recent defeats.

“We’re forgetting about the bad week,” he said ahead of Saturday’s match.

“It’s about starting fresh, and what a game to come back into – Leeds at home is one that it doesn’t get much bigger than for Millwall. The break has been good – but then again, when you make mistakes like we did [against Swansea] then you want to rectify them as soon as possible.”

Leeds boss Bielsa, while confident in his side, knows Millwall will be a difficult opponent and had said: “We will face similar difficulties that we faced against Middlesbrough. And we’ll see if we are faithful to our style or if we make concessions to a rival who is trying to neutralise us.”
