Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United will have at least three players making their debuts in their trip to face Astana on Thursday night.

With progress to the Europa League round of 32 already secure for United and a hectic domestic calendar to balance, Solskjaer has headed east with a young squad featuring very little experience.

Astana are already out of contention in Group L having failed to muster a point in their four matches and Solskjaer confirmed in Wednesday’s press conference that three youngsters will get their chance from the start.

“It’s obviously Lee’s [Grant] first start,” Solskjaer said. “You’re gonna see Ethan Laird, Dishon Bernard and Dylan Levitt from the start and the substitutes that come on, that’ll be their debuts, so you’ll see a few.”

Axel Tuanzebe, Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingard and Lee Grant are the only non-teenagers in the squad that has travelled to Kazakhstan and Solskjaer thinks it’s an ideal opportunity for the quartet to get some game time.

Solskjaer added: “We’ve done great to qualify after four games, so it gives us an opportunity to give game-time to the experienced lads who need it; Axel, Luke and Jesse have not had too many games and are coming back from injuries.

“It’s a great chance for me to give Lee his first start for the club. It’s hard to give kids games against men, professional games, we’ve got the EFL Trophy and this is a great chance for me to see them all together.”
