UNITED STILL FANCY CHANCES OF SIGNING SANCHO
The morning after scoring four goals in 11 minutes in the Europa League, Manchester United are seemingly intent on revamping their forward line.
The Mirror reckons United still fancy themselves to land Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund despite plenty of competition from elsewhere. The Red Devils have been after the England winger for the last year and they’ve spent most of that time believing they are favourites to land his signature when Dortmund decide to sell, which will most likely be next summer.
The same story also claims United still want Christian Eriksen despite the Denmark star doing all he can to put them off. Eriksen wants to move to Spain but whether any of the big clubs over there really want him is still unclear.
United also remain in the race to sign Erling Haaland, according to The Guardian. The Norway starlet is expected to make the smaller step from RB Salzburg to the Bundesliga with Dortmund and RB Leipzig both vying for pole position. But with Mino Raiola sticking his beak in, United and Juventus are expected to get the chance to present their case to Haaland. The striker has a release clause of around £21.2million but a bidding way is expected to push his price way above that measly sum.
NAPOLI TO TEMPT ARSENAL OVER TORREIRA
Carlo Ancelotti could end up swapping Napoli for Arsenal – more on that later – but Lucas Torreira could go the other way.
A report in Italy suggests the Serie A club are keen to take the Uruguayan midfielder one way or another in January, though they may have to up their game.
Il Mattino reckons they will first try to sign Torreira on loan but should the Gunners not be tempted by that offer – and why would they be? – then Napoli will bid £21million for a player Arsenal paid around £26million for last year.
POCH FOR WEST HAM?
There are plenty of managerial whispers around this morning…
The Daily Mail says Arsenal or Everton would not have to pay compensation to Napoli for Ancelotti, which seems obvious given they sacked him.
The same paper also reports a break clause in Pep Guardiola’s contract which could see the Manchester City boss walk away at the end of the season even though his contract has another year to run.
Maybe West Ham could target Guardiola since they seem to be going for managers out of their league? The Daily Star says the Hammers are hoping to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as a replacement for Manuel Pellegrini. All the best with that. Perhaps Harry Redknapp is a more realistic target? Football Insider reckons the former boss is under consideration.
