Some Liverpool players were ‘left bewildered’ after being prevented from celebrating their Club World Cup success with fans in Qatar.

Liverpool were crowned world champions for the first time in their history after beating Flamengo 1-0 in Saturday’s final.

But the Liverpool Echo report that their celebrations after the game ‘were restricted to the pitch’ at the Khalifa International Stadium.

The players were even ‘unable to complete a lap of honour after the triumph,’ with some ‘left bewildered’ by the intervention of FIFA representatives.

Jurgen Klopp and a number of players attempted to go behind the goal but were ‘ushered…back towards the pitch’.

While Liverpool ‘haven’t complained formally’ and ‘don’t have a position on this’, some unnamed members of the squad are said to have ‘found the actions of staff in the ground very odd and unnecessary’.

FIFA clearly do not realise that this means more.
