Manchester United must provide Erling Braut Haaland assurances that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will stay on as manager if they want the Red Bull Salzburg striker to sign, according to reports.
The Norwegian is one of the brightest prospects in Europe, having scored eight Champions League goals and 16 Austrian Bundesliga goals so far this season.
Both United and Liverpool are reportedly interested in securing the services of Haaland, as well as other top clubs from around Europe.
There have been reports that Haaland could in fact be available for €20m and not the €100m mentioned elsewhere, strengthening rumours of a possible January deal.
United‘s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and manager Solskjaer ‘travelled to Austria to meet the player’s representatives on Friday’ with the club making ‘efforts’ to secure a deal, while there are claims that Haaland wants to decide where he is moving before Christmas.
Gossip on Wednesday suggested that Man Utd will bring Haaland to Old Trafford for £76m in January and loan him back to the Austrian club until the end of the season.
And now a report in TV2 claims that Haaland has been worried about Solskjaer would leave United unless results improved and the 19-year-old wants reassuring that Solskjaer will remain before signing.
If he is satisfied with talks with the United hierarchy then it will make United strong favourites to land him.
