Manuel Pellegrini faced questions over his immediate future at West Ham after they lost 2-1 at home to Leicester City on Saturday.
Demarai Gray, one of nine new faces in a much-changed Foxes line-up, fluffed the opportunity to open his Premier League goal account for the season from the spot after only 12 minutes.
But the winger made amends after the interval to fire second-placed Leicester to a first league win in four games while inflicting a fourth straight home defeat on woeful West Ham, who have won just twice in 14 matches.

The natives are getting increasingly restless at the London Stadium, and Pellegrini‘s decision to substitute record signing Sebastien Haller, rather than give him some support in attack, was met with loud jeers.
When asked whether he can get West Ham out of their current mess, Pellegrini responded: “It is a question I cannot answer. We need to win our home games. Away we are not doing bad, but our home games having just one point from 18 makes it so difficult.”
On why the Hammers are finding it easier on the road, Pellegrini added: “We need to take more risks at home, we must try to manage the phases of the game. They don’t lose many balls, we need to find a way to win here.
“We need to have better technical movements, score more goals and concentrate in defending.”
On whether he will still be in charge in their next match against Bournemouth, Pellegrini continued: “I must continue to work and find a way and to recover the trust. I cannot answer that question.”
