SPURS OFFERED ALL THE STRIKERS
With Jose Mourinho said to be concerned over Harry Kane’s prospects of playing again this season, Tottenham are apparently targeting not one but two strikers this month. And there are plenty of names in the frame…
Their interest in Krzysztof Piatek is well known. Spurs wanted the AC Milan striker on loan until the end of the season and they looked well place to pull it off until Aston Villa up the ante with a permanent offer for the Poland international. No matter – The Independent says Daniel Levy has been bombarded by agents trying to sell him their strikers.
Fernando Llorente’s representatives are said to be trying to get him back to White Hart Lane from Napoli, while Christian Benteke is said to be on offer too. Edinson Cavani has also been offered but the PSG star’s wages are likely to be prohibitive and the Uruguayan is unlikely to accept being benched upon Kane’s return.
ERIKSEN EDGES TOWARDS INTER
While Levy sifts through strikers, he also has the matter of Christian Eriksen to sort in the next two and a half weeks.
The Times reckons the Denmark star is moving closer to a switch to Inter Milan having agreed terms on a deal that would see him take home £100,000 a week.
So just the matter of a fee for Inter to sort. And Levy has always made that easy in the past…
ATLETICO EYE ARSENAL STRIKER
Another club looking for a striker is Atletico Madrid. Cavani was said to be their primary target but it would appear they are making contingency plans which involve another north London club.
Marca claims Alexandre Lacazette is their preferred target if they can’t get a deal for Cavani over the line – and Atletico could dangle Thomas Lemar as bait.
Arsenal have long been keen on Lemar but so too are Chelsea this month. However, if they are prepared to let Lacazette move to Madrid then Atletico will nudge the France winger in the direction of the Emirates.
LIVERPOOL REJECT ROMA ENQUIRY
Roma are in the hunt for reinforcements this month, especially in the wake of Nicolo Zaniolo’s season-ending injury.
It is claimed they put a call into Liverpool to ask about taking Xherdan Shaqiri on loan, but they may as well not have bothered.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reckons the Reds told Roma there was no chance of Shaqiri moving this month. But reports elsewhere suggest Liverpool are keen to do some business…
REDS’ KEEPER OFFER REBEUFFED
The Premier League leaders have been linked with Trabzonspor keeper Ugurcan Cakir for months now. It was reported that Liverpool wanted to send Loris Karius to Trabzonspor in part-exchange for the 23-year-old but Sabah in Turkey say the Reds have now tabled a £12.8million cash offer.
It’s been met with a lukewarm response. Trabzonspor are said to prefer to keep Cakir until at least the end of the season in the hope that the Turkey keeper raises his value by impressing at the Euros in summer.
