Manchester United’s move for Bruno Fernandes is ‘at risk’ as they remain in talks with Sporting Lisbon over a fee for the midfielder.

The Portugal international is said to be desperate to move and has reportedly agreed terms with the Old Trafford club.

But according to journalist Rui Pedro Braz, United won’t go above paying £42m up front for Fernandes, while Sporting demand at least £55m for their captain.

The £13million disparity between the two clubs could scupper the Portugal international’s potential transfer.

Braz told Portuguese television channel TVI 24 that Sporting are insisting on a guaranteed fee of £55m plus bonuses – something United are not prepared to do.

Fernandes is due to play for Sporting against Benfica on Friday night and it is being reported he has asked to miss the match to try and push through a transfer to United.
