LOS ANGELES, CA — Cameron Boyce, a Los Angeles native and Disney star known for his roles in “Descendants” and the show “Jessie,” has died. He was 20. The actor’s family told ABC News on Saturday that Boyce died in his sleep due to a seizure that came amid an “ongoing medical condition.”
“It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron,” the family said in a statement, adding that the world was “now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights.”
Bob Iger, chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, tweeted out prayers to Boyce’s family and friends.
“The Walt Disney Company mourns the loss of #CameronBoyce, who was a friend to so many of us, and filled with so much talent, heart and life, and far too young to die,” he wrote.
Boyce, who was born May 28, 1999, in Los Angeles, made his film debut in the horror film “Mirrors” and then later that year appeared in the widely released film “Eagle Eye,” starring Shia LaBeouf.
Boyce also portrayed one of Adam Sandler’s children in the 2010 film “Grown Ups” and the same role in the 2013 sequel. Sandler said in a statement his heart was broken.
“Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around,” he said. “Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us.”
In 2015, Boyce played Carlos in Disney’s “Descendants,” portraying the son of Cruella de Vil, the villain in the novel and film, “101 Dalmations.” Boyce’s Carlos character also appears in the “Descendants” TV series as well as in the franchise’s 2017 and 2019 sequels.
Condolences have poured in from around the country from stunned colleagues and friends. Below is a roundup of some of them.

I’m… so… taken aback and sad about the passing of Cameron Boyce. Such a young and talented individual who seemed to have a wonderful outlook on the world and did his best raising money for good causes while he had his platform. Rest In Peace, Cameron. Oh my gosh.

I just learned of Cameron Boyce’s passing and I am completely, utterly devastated. Cameron has a sweet soul, always was learning, and always tried to pass that knowledge along to others. When I joined the Disney Channel, he became someone I looked up to.

My family and I are devastated today, by the loss of our young and amazing friend, Cameron Boyce. Years before I was blessed to play his father on JESSIE, we were blessed to know him and his wonderful family at the elementary school our kids all attended together./1
