Boston 10K for Women Announces New Partnership with Reebok

The Reebok Boston 10K for Women will be held on Columbus Day, October 8, 2018

BOSTON, MA – Conventures, Inc., organizers of road races and events throughout New England, proudly announced today the beginning of a new title partnership of its most well known race, now named the Reebok Boston 10K for Women. Formerly known as the Tufts Health Plan 10K for Women, Conventures, Inc. returns one of the country’s largest all-women events to Boston Common on October 8, 2018 with its new title sponsor.

“We could not be more excited to team up with Reebok on the 10K for Women,” said Dusty Rhodes, president and founder of Conventures, and founder of the race. “In addition to its brand new global headquarters in Boston’s Seaport District, Reebok has deep roots in our city, in running, in giving back to the community and in women’s health. The energy and spirit they’ll bring to our partnership will be fantastic.”

Registration for the Reebok Boston 10K for Women will open today, July 2nd, at 10:00 AM (ET), and continue until the field size limit is reached. Participants are encouraged to register early at boston10Kforwomen.com and will receive exclusive discounts from Reebok for doing so.

“This is a perfect partnership for Reebok,” said Reebok President Matt O’Toole. “Not only are we a Boston-based fitness brand with a long heritage in running, but we’ve also led the way when it comes to empowering women through fitness. Today, we have a renewed commitment to women and this partnership is a great example of this.”

“The unfortunate reality is that today, women and girls continue to opt out of sport and fitness at a rate much higher than men,” said O’Toole. “At Reebok, we’re committed to helping reverse this trend. That’s why this event is so important, and why we’re so excited to be a part of it moving forward.”

The flat and fast 6.2-mile course brings thousands of women through Boston’s Back Bay and into Cambridge, where they’re awarded with sweeping views of the Charles River, autumn foliage, and the Boston skyline. Runners return into Boston over the Massachusetts Avenue bridge, turn left onto Commonwealth Avenue, and finish on Charles Street between the public garden and Boston Common.

The event has evolved a few times since the race’s inception in 1977. What began as the Bonnie Bell Mini Marathon in 1977, became instantly popular with the women runners of New England. After years of growth, Tufts Health Plan became the title sponsor, and supported the race for 33 years.

“To have a sponsor support your event – for decades – is special, and we want to again thank Tufts Health Plan, for their years of support for the race,” said Rhodes. “Their impact on this event and the participants within it will not be forgotten.”

The race has played host to several US championships, and multiple US records have been set on its course. The race will begin at its traditional start time of 12:00 noon on Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Boston Common.
