WWE Intercontinental champion Dean Ambrose required multiple staples in his head to close a gash, according to video released on WWE’s website.
Ambrose suffered the apparent injury in the steel cage main event of Raw against Sheamus.
WWE said the official count was six staples to close a wound in the back-left side of Ambrose’s head.
WWE’s medical team warned Ambrose that the wound could re-open over night, though.
Ambrose is scheduled to defend the Intercontinental Title against Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler on Tuesday night’s live Smackdown episode.
