It was announced earlier today that WrestleMania will indeed be returning to the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey for next year’s show. WWE has also made a few more announcements concerning next year’s event. Triple H confirmed during the press conference for the show that Raw’s newest Superstar, Ronda Rousey will be competing at the event in 2019. No opponent for Rousey was revealed, but the formerly undefeated MMA star will be wrestling again at next year’s show. Ronda Rousey will compete in her first wrestling match ever when she and Raw General Manager Kurt Angle take on Stephanie McMahon and Triple H at WrestleMania in New Orleans this April.
WrestleMania was not the only event announced during the recent press conference, but all of the events that go with it were announced as well. NXT Takeover will be among the festivities that fans can go to, but this Takeover show is even more special given that it will see the NXT brand return to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. NXT has been hosting Takeover events from the venue since 2015, but those typically took place during the weekend of SummerSlam. It seems that 2019 will see the event take place in April rather than in August. NXT Takeover: Brooklyn returns to the Barclays Center for the fourth time this August before coming back again for a fifth time in April of 2019.
As mentioned, Takeover and SummerSlam have been held in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York every single year since 2015. Both events will be held form the same arena later this year, but it looks like this may be SummerSlam’s final year in the venue. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, SummerSlam will be hosted from a stadium starting in 2019. No location was provided just yet, but it seems likely that the show will be hosted in a baseball stadium. With WWE set to host next year’s Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, this year’s Greatest Royal Rumble event, and an upcoming pay-per-view in Australia in stadiums, it only seems more likely that SummerSlam will be moved to a stadium setting as well.

SummerSlam, and the surrounding weekend events, are moving on from Brooklyn after this upcoming year. Location still TBD, but high probability of SummerSlam being held at a stadium venue. Likely a MLB stadium.
