It has been rumored for weeks now that Rockstar Spud would be joining WWE soon enough. The speculation began almost immediately after he left Impact Wrestling earlier this year. The company will reportedly be bringing Spud on as a cruiserweight for 205 Live, and it looks like he may be debuting on tonight’s edition of the show. PWInsider has reported that Spud is backstage at tonight’s Smackdown show and a photo showing Spud arriving at the arena has been provided as well. Spud was also reportedly backstage during last night’s Raw show as well. The same report also mentions that former ECW star Colin Delaney is backstage tonight as well.

Despite initially being scheduled to debut on tonight’s episode of 205 Live, fans were surprised to see Hideo Itami wrestle on Raw one day prior and team up with Finn Balor to face Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. WrestlingNewsCo has elaborated on why Itami may have been called up one day earlier than expected. The report mentions that the angle with Itami was done by WWE as a way to get more viewers for 205 Live. By having Itami team up with Balor, the idea is that more people would hopefully be talking about the cruiserweight division in time for the upcoming live events for the brand. Adding Bray Wyatt vs. Matt Hardy to the live events was another way to get more attention for the live events ahead of time.
Rey Mysterio is often cited as one of the most exciting wrestlers in all of the world. He most famously competed for WCW and WWE for several years, but it does not look like he will be returning to WWE anytime soon. Responding to rumors that Mysterio was in talks to return to the company, the Wrestling Observer has stated that Mysterio will not be returning to WWE for at least a while. In fact, the two sides are apparently not even speaking at the moment. The company was reportedly interested in bringing him back earlier this year, but they apparently lost interest in doing so after a while. Mysterio will continue to work in Mexico and on the independent wrestling circuit for now.
