EDMOND, Okla. – Augustana received votes and two wrestlers held onto their individual rankings in the latest poll released Wednesday by the Division II Wrestling Coaches Association. Jayd Docken remains ranked No. 5 at 197 pounds and Sean Derry holds onto his No. 7 ranking at 184 pounds in the first regular-season poll this season.

The Vikings did not receive votes in the preseason coaches’ poll, but after a 2-1 start to the dual season, Augustana is one of eight teams to receive votes and remain outside of the top 20.

Notre Dame (Ohio) held steady at the No. 1 spot, but teams two through five all exchanged spots. St. cloud State (fifth), Upper Iowa (13th), and Minnesota State (18th) all remain in the top 20 despite each losing ground since the preseason poll.

A junior from Winner, S.D., Docken has yet to wrestle this season, but his All-American finish last year earned him the No. 5 ranking at 197 pounds and he remains in that spot. Returning from injury, Docken is scheduled to make his 2013-14 debut this weekend.

Derry, a senior from Omaha, Neb., opened the season ranked as the No. 7 wrestler at 184 pounds and held onto that mark after the first month of the season. Since the start of the 2013-14 season, Derry has posted a 11-5 overall record, 3-1 against fellow Division II wrestlers.

The Vikings open a busy week at a Northwestern (Iowa)-hosted triangular on Thursday, Dec. 5, then travel to the MSU Moorhead Dragon Open on Saturday, Dec. 7 before closing the week with a dual against South Dakota State on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
