Backstage: Kevin Owens & Triple H

A shot aired of Kevin Owens talking with Triple H backstage, then the announcers wondered what they were talking about… Footage aired of Roman Reigns rejecting Triple H’s invite to become The Authority’s new chosen one… Still shots aired of Seth Rollins undergoing knee surgery. Cole said the timeline is still six to nine months. Cole noted that Rollins issued a tweet that read “redesign, rebuild, and reclaim.”

Tyler Breeze (with Summer Rae) vs. R-Truth

[Q4] Tyler Breeze and Summer Rae made their entrance for a match. Truth got a full televised entrance and the fans were into his song.

While Tyler was down in his corner, Summer applied some lip balm on his lips. JBL acknowledged Breeze’s match against Justin Thunder Liger from NXT without saying who won. Truth hit his scissors kick for a two count. Truth clutched the knee that Breeze targeted during the match. Breeze came back with the Beauty Shot for the win.

WWE Title Tournament Quarterfinals
– Dolph Ziggler vs. Dean Ambrose

Dolph Ziggler makes his way out to the ring, as it’s time for our second WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament quarterfinal match. Out next comes his opponent, Dean Ambrose.

JBL said Scott Hall, Goldust, Davey Boy Smith, Ted DiBiase, and Roddy Piper are among the “incredible legends” who never won the championship that is on the line in the tournament. JBL said you think you know what winning the title will mean for you and your family, but all of your expectations are exceeded.

Ziggler went for a superkick, but Ambrose held the ropes to avoid it, then shook his finger at him. The crowd was very quiet early on. There were some cheers when Ambrose cleared Ziggler to ringside. Ambrose wanted to go for a suicide dive, but he stopped short when Ziggler moved to avoid it. At 7:40, they traded punches on the second rope and then both men fell to ringside. [C]

Ziggler caught Ambrose with a dropkick. Ambrose tried to come back with his teetering clothesline, but Ziggler kicked his knee and then performed a Fameasser for a two count. Kevin Owens was shown watching the match on a backstage monitor since he will face the winner. Ambrose came back with a couple of near falls of his own including one off a clothesline.

[Q6] Ziggler sold his knee injury as the match went on. Ambrose caught him in a small package at 15:25 for two, then Ziggler came right back with his own two count. At 16:35, Ambrose hit Dirty Deeds and got the win.

After the match, Ambrose said that if he wins the title at Survivor Series he is going to turn this place upside down. He said they will throw all the rules out the window. He said no more suits or ties. He said he wants breakfast for dinner, and he wants to replace Cole with a fish tank. He said he will make the entire WWE Universe his asylum.

More Hype For Charlotte vs. Paige

Footage aired of Stephanie McMahon introducing Charlotte in her debut… The broadcast team hyped the contract signing for the Divas Championship match for later in the show… An ad aired for legends such as Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, and Triple H discussing Undertaker on a Legends special after Raw, and Undertaker Week on WWE Network… [C]

The New Day vs. The Usos & Ryback

New Day made their entrance for a six-man tag match. Xavier Woods had his trusty trombone with him. He said the only anniversary people want to talk about is 25 years of Undertaker. Woods said he’s 29. He said people should be talking about the anniversary of the debut of the most entertaining group in the history of WWE.

Big E noted it was New Day’s anniversary. Kofi Kingston said they didn’t get invited to The Tonight Show like Taker or interviewed on ESPN SportsCenter like the Uso Brothers. Woods said the Uso Brothers suffered an “accidental injury” the last time they tried to step up. Big E led them in “Uce-Owwww” chants. Funny. Woods was going to mock Ryback, but E told him not to get dragged down. He said when life gives you booty, make Booty-Aide.

[Q7] The Uso Brothers and Ryback made their entrances. The grown ass man wearing the John Cena gear and holding a replica title belt was happy to join the kids in taking part in the Uso pre-match chant… [C]

Cole spoke about a Twitter exchange between Owens and actress Melissa Joan Hart. Jey performed an early dive onto two New Day members on the floor. He overshot them (or they didn’t do enough to break his fall) and he landed hard against the barricade. Ouch.

New Day isolated Jey Uso early in the match. Woods played the trombone and Big E gyrated while sticking his tongue out. E is hilarious. Kofi threw a great dropkick at Jey. Big E followed with a splash for a two count. Jey eventually made a tag, but the referee was distracted so the New Day isolation continued.

Big E walked over and slapped Ryback, who entered the ring and threw punches at New Day. The referee tried to clear Ryback, but he shoved the official for the DQ. Ryback continued to rough up the New Day members and put Big E down with a clothesline. Kofi was dumped to ringside. The Uso Brothers double superkicked Woods, and then Ryback threw him onto E and Kingston on the floor.
