WWE held tryouts for potential talent during their ongoing overseas tour, with NXT General Manager William Regal overseeing the tryouts held in Glasgow, Scotland this week.
Below is the official announcement WWE issued on Tuesday with all of the details on the talent that took part in the tryout.
WWE holds tryout in Glasgow, Scotland
WWE’s worldwide search for talent continued this week in Glasgow, Scotland, where more than 30 athletes were invited to a tryout.
The tryout coincided with WWE’s current tour of Europe and the United Kingdom. This week, the SSE Hydro in Glasgow hosts both Raw and SmackDown LIVE.
Invitees to the tryout included independent wrestling standouts from throughout the continent, as well as athletes from other sports.
More than a dozen female wrestlers were on hand, ranging from Wales’ Nixon Newell to England’s Lana Austin to 6-foot-2 Queen Maya of Italy. A variety of renowned male competitors from the U.K. — such as “Bruiserweight” Pete Dunne (who battled Jack Gallagher in a Cruiserweight Classic qualifying match earlier this year), veteran Trent Seven and 19-year-old wonder Tyler Bate — also attended the camp.
Other notables included “Freak of Nature” Sean O’Hagan, a 6-foot-11, 420-pound strongman from Northern Ireland who claimed the title of Ireland’s Strongest Man in 2015, and English rugby player Luke Menzies.
As previously reported, WWE will hold another invitation-only tryout next month in Australia in conjunction with NXT’s debut Down Under.
