— Courtesy of the Wrestling Observer, news broke online a few weeks ago saying WWE has plans to induct Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat into their Hall of Fame this year. In light of the report, the webmaster behind the wrestling legend’s official website, www.RickyTheDragonSteamboat.com, posted a statement informing his fans of the news. As it turns out, the site’s webmaster was not authorized by the Steamboat family to post an announcement regarding Steamboat and the Hall of Fame. The website is also saying that news of Steamboat going into the WWE Hall of Fame is false. Here is a message Bonnie Steamboat released regarding the error:
DISCLAIMER:
INFORMATION REGARDING THE INDUCTION OF RICKY STEAMBOAT INTO THE WWE HALL OF FAME IS FALSE AND WAS INADVERTENTLY PLACED ON THIS WEBSITE. THE OWNERS OF THIS WEBSITE REGRET THIS ERROR AND APOLOGIZE TO THE WWE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE IT MAY HAVE CAUSED.
Rick, Bonnie and Richie regret to inform wrestling fans that we have temporarily had to put our web site under suspension. The good news is we expect it to be back up and running in the near future. Thank you for your patience. In addition, neither Rick, Richie or myself have not given anyone our “official” permission to put up a MY Space account for us on the Internet. Please be aware of imposters that claim they are our ‘friends’ … who continue to try corrupt the reputation of the Steamboat family. Thank you all so much. Bonnie Steamboat
WWE still has plans to put Steamboat into the WWE Hall of Fame this year as this is simply a case of damage control on the part of the Steamboats. The wrestling legend works for WWE in a road agent role and it would not be wise to make an official announcement before the company does.
