WWE has now officially confirmed that Becky Lynch will defend her Raw Women’s Championship in a huge rematch against Asuka, set to take place at the 2020 Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
Lynch appeared in a backstage interview on Monday Night Raw this week and claimed that she refused to sign her new contract with WWE unless she was granted the match against her rival.
This of course goes back to the 2019 incarnation of the event, where the “Empress of Tomorrow” actually forced Lynch to tap out in the center of the ring, bringing her Smackdown women’s title reign crashing down at the very height of popularity.
“The Man” would then go on to win the Rumble match, head to WrestleMania and make history in a triple threat main event with Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair. That loss to Asuka has haunted her all the while, and a recent program against the Kabuki Warriors has reignited the flame.
