New Japan’s Tama Tonga has challenged Ring of Honor’s Silas Young to a one-on-one bout. Tonga and Young had a curious Twitter exchange on May 23, which ended with Tama politely asking for a match.

The challenge itself is more than curious, it’s actually quite bizarre It’s not often that The Guerrillas of Destiny member plays nice with anyone, especially on social media. But he and “The Last Real Man” seemed to have some common ground and that ultimately led to the respect shown by each man on Twitter.

Tonga is of course one of the most controversial stars in New Japan. He always speaks his mind and he’s never at a loss for words. He and his brother Tanga Loa are the current IWGP and ROH World Tag Team champions and they’re also two of NJPW’s top acts.

Young has really come into his own as one of ROH’s best heels working today. He’s received a boost thanks to his association with Bully Ray and that has helped Young become a regularly featured attraction in the company.

New Japan’s working relationship with Ring of Honor is still very much in effect, so it’s entirely possible that Tama Tonga and Silas Young will eventually clash in the ring.

@ringofhonor you heard it, let’s make this happen.
