As noted, WWE star Jason Jordan, who might not be returning to the ring due to complications related to a neck injury and subsequent surgery, looks to be transitioning into a backstage role in WWE.
According to PWInsider.com, Jordan was backstage at the WWE TV events at the Barclays Center during SummerSlam week, and was said to have produced the Peyton Royce vs Naomi match on Smackdown Live this week.
As we noted over the weekend, Matt Hardy is also testing out a possible backstage role in WWE after it was announced last week that he might be winding down his in-ring career due to injuries. Hardy posted several photos on social media revealing he was at SummerSlam week events to get a feel for the possible career option.
In other Smackdown news, Ariya Daivari, who is currently recovering from injury, was backstage at the Smackdown and 205 Live tapings this week.
WWE veteran Big Show, who is also nearing an in-ring return, and was in New York City this past week to take part in SummerSlam week events, was backstage at Smackdown in Brooklyn.
Finally, Mickie James, who will be appearing along with Jeff Hardy and Curt Hawkins at tonight’s New York Mets “WWE Night”, was also backstage at Smackdown.
