Ulster wing Trimble played from start to finish in Friday night’s Pro12 win over Treviso at the Kingspan Stadium, but sustained a hand injury during the game.
That will rule him out of next weekend’s trip to Cardiff to face Wales, as well as a potential championship decider at home to England on 18 March.
The 32-year-old was absent from the defeat to Scotland and the win over Italy due to a groin injury but came on as a second-half substitute in last weekend’s victory at home to France.
Meanwhile, Connacht second row Dillane had been included in Ireland’s extended 37-man squad during the week, but the IRFU has revealed that he will undergo surgery on a shoulder issue that is expected to rule him out for between eight and ten weeks.
Rob Kearney has been “progressing well” as he recovers from a groin injury and the Leinster man is expected to take full part in training on Monday.
