L’Équipe are reporting that Montpellier attacking midfielder Sacha Delaye (20) is going to be loaned to National 1 (N1) side Puy until the end of the season.
Delaye signed his first professional contract with the club last year, and his current deal runs until 2025. However, he has found his gametime at the Ligue 1 side limited, and he is therefore set to move down the divisions to gain experience. In a deal that doesn’t include a buy option, Delaye is set to join Puy until the end of the season. The N1 side beat OGC Nice in the Coupe de France on Saturday.
Delaye has only featured four times for Montpellier this season in all competitions. He scored his first goal in Ligue 1 against Stade de Reims in November, whilst he also featured in Montpellier’s 2-1 Coupe de France defeat against Pau on Friday. Delaye will become the second player to depart the club this winter after Arnaud Souquet was released to join MLS side Chicago Fire.
