Italian journalist Matteo Moretto reports this afternoon that Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes would be Juventus’ prime target should a midfielder leave the Bianconeri this summer.
Moretto adds that talks are ongoing for the Argentine, who is one of 11 players placed on the transfer list as the Ligue 1 champions look to streamline their squad as part of a new-look project, with the arrival of Christophe Galtier as manager and Luís Campos as sporting advisor.
The 28-year-old’s contract was automatically extended to 2024 last month, with his deal previously running until 2023 but including a clause for an additional season.
Paredes was signed from Zenit St Petersburg in January of 2019 for a fee of €47m, and has since made 113 appearances for PSG, scoring three goals.
His high wages could make a transfer difficult although earlier this summer Manchester United had made an enquiry while Monaco were also keeping an eye on the Argentinian international. Juventus’ interest was also initially reported by L’Équipe. Despite being on the transfer list and having an underwhelming three and a half seasons at the club, PSG are not looking to sell Paredes for a cut-price deal.
