As reported by ESTAC Troyes’ twitter account this morning, former club captain Jimmy Giraudon (30) has signed for recently relegated Saint-Étienne.
Having made 185 appearances for the club over the course of six years, as well as helping them to promotion in the 2020/21 season, the French centre-back spent the second half of last season on loan with La Liga 2 side Leganés, who only used the player a total of five times.
The move to ASSE was finalised despite interest from a number of other Ligue 2 clubs, including Bordeaux and Paris FC, as well as recently promoted AJ Auxerre.
Giraudon had been likely to leave Troyes since the arrival of new manager Bruno Irles at the start of this year, who stripped him of his captaincy and deemed him surplus to requirements. Having played 128 games in Ligue 2, the 30-year-old now returns to the second division, despite the two years left on his contract with Troyes.
