In speaking after OGC Nice’s 2-0 loss at Lyon last night, coach Christophe Galtier analysed his side’s display, explaining they simply weren’t able to compete with OL’s quality and intensity. Galtier said:
“The standard was very high, that’s it. Without blaming the players, you have to be at that level – Lyon were this evening. To break their press, you have to be very good technically but we were cornered and we struggled in transition. Lyon have a superior starting line-up and squad to us… I have no complaints about my players. They made an enormous effort, but we were beaten in all areas. Lyon managed to keep the ball very high up the pitch, in our last twenty meters. They were good at playing high and taking risks. They were very impressive and I almost want to say a pleasure to watch!”
