As reported by Foot Mercato, Lyon’s teenage forward Rayan Cherki is attracting significant interest from OGC Nice ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 18-year-old is seen by some as potentially the greatest talent to emerge from Lyon’s prolific academy but he has become frustrated by a lack of game time under current coach Peter Bosz.
OGC Nice are positioning themselves to capitalise on Cherki’s situation after poaching two major OL talents in each of the last two summers in left-back Melvin Bard and striker Amine Gouiri. Financially the deal would be very achievable for the club, say Foot Mercato, but, wary of losing the player, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is ramping up attempts to extend the forward’s deal.
However, after an operation on a foot injury picked up earlier this month, Cherki could miss the rest of the season at OL. With his contract expiring in 2023 and the summer window approaching, he may have already played his final game for Lyon.
