PSG’s home shirt for this season has received a mixed reaction from fans due to the removal of the famous red stripe, replaced by a plain navy blue jersey with red trim. However, PSG have rarely been seen to wear the new shirt this season, often turning out in their black third stripe instead.

The CUP ultra group accused the club of insulting fans by not wearing their home kit at the Parc des Princes after Paris used the black kit seven times in 27 games this season, six of which were at home. However, according to Culture PSG, this is down to a matter of stock.

PSG received a certain number of home kits at the start of the season from Nike but have already considerably eaten into that supply with Nike struggling to provide additional home kits and they’re worried about a shortage at the end of the season. As a result, Paris have chosen to use the black third kit more than they usually would.

The black kit is selling well in stores, says Culture PSG, meaning suggestions that the heavy use of the third jersey is a merchandising decision seem wide of the mark.
