L’Équipe report that Ajax goalkeeper André Onana is closing in on a transfer to Olympique Lyonnais, having agreed terms with Les Gones.

The Cameroon international, currently serving a doping ban until November, has seen a transfer to Ligue 1 in the works for the past few weeks. As one of new manager Peter Bosz’s priorities – the two having worked together at Ajax –

The Dutch team had originally set their asking price at €14m, before reducing this to €11m and then settling on an €8m fee for the goalkeeper, whose transfer nevertheless remains to be finalised. With Onana’s contract expiring at the end of next season, Ajax are looking to cash in on the goalkeeper, with director Marc Overmars indicating that under different circumstances Onana would be worth €30m, as “one of the five or six best goalkeepers in Europe“, speaking to Dutch outlet Voetbal.

Lyon’s latest offer now stands at €6m, along with a host of bonuses, which looks set to wrap up the Ajax man’s arrival. With the goalkeeper’s signing all but confirmed, Les Gones will now turn their summer recruitment towards bringing in a forward and a left-back, both positions Bosz is looking to reinforce.
