Giulian Biancone, 6 – The former Monaco player looked desperate to make an impression against his old employers and provided intensity and work rate on his flank while being unlucky not to score after his shaped effort hit the inside of the post.

Renaud Ripart, 6 – His hardworking, utility player persona masks his quality in this division and again Ripart quietly imposed himself and used the ball neatly from left wing back.

Florian Tardieu, 6 – Has always been a class act and astutely picked his passes all game despite limited chances to create from deep. Held his own against Moanco’s quality midfield line up.

Mama Baldé, 6 – A clever looping shot hit the bar and he pressed well throughout, often forcing and capitalising on mistakes from Monaco’s creaking defence.

Yoann Touzghar, 4 – Worked hard but, as is usually the case with the Tunisian in Ligue 1, his lack of ruthlessness and poor finishing let him down with a handful of half-chances wasted.

MONACO – 2 (Diop 40, 58)

Benoît Badiashile, 3 – Positionally poor and static throughout, withdrawn early as one of many culprits to a shaky Monaco display defensively.

Ruben Aguilar, 2 – Close to 1. Everything went wrong for him. Wasted attacking opportunities in the first half with some poor use of the ball and was loose defensively while being lucky not to give away a penalty before a second (very similar) own goal in a week just half after time.

Jean Lucas, 5 – Provided a handful of dangerous first half deliveries and was solid enough in his midfield work but remains a baffling signing,

Youssouf Fofana, 6 – Having been asked to play more on the front foot, Fofana’s slow adaptation continues but, despite an up and down afternoon, his storming run through the Troyes defence and lovely through ball for Diop’s second was the game’s highlight. Close to 7.

Aurélien Tchouaméni, 5

Gelson Martins, 6 – Played with intensity and repeatedly beat his man in wide areas as Monaco’s most consistent creative spark but drops from 7 to 6 having somehow fired over from point blank range early on.

Sofiane Diop, 7 – Provided a cutting edge with an admittedly relatively simple brace, tapping in Ben Yedder’s cross at the back post for 1-0 before shaping round Gallon having been put through by Fofana.
