After yesterday’s Football Leaks claims, AS Monaco owner and president Dmitri Rybolovlev was held in police custody in Monaco today at the request of a local judge.

Le Monde understand that he was being held throughout the day in connection with “active and passive bribery” and “corruption” and his potential complicity in these matters.

The newspaper has handed over thousands of SMS messages to the Monaco authorities which suggest the existence of a secret network of operatives working for Rybolovlev following a conflict with Swiss art dealer Yves Bouvier, the Russian is alleged to have received sweetheart treatment by the local Monaco judicial authorities in this case.

Text messages between the owner of AS Monaco’s entourage and bosses of the local judicial police and the Minister of Justice of the Principality, Philippe Narmino, have namely been discovered, with the latter recently being forced to resign.
