Rémy Cabella has extended his time in Saint-Étienne, having today signed a four-year contract to stay with the Ligue 1 club. Cabella spent last season on loan with Les Verts, appearing in 26 Ligue 1 matches and contributing to a total of 13 goals. Keeping a hold of the tricky midfielder was a priority for Saint-Étienne, as the French playmaker’s performances were instrumental to their success last season.

Ligue 1 has typically been Cabella’s favourite competition, with the Frenchman terrorizing his opponents on a regular basis, year after year. In returning to a club in Saint-Étienne that allows him to roam and orchestrate his team’s attacking moves, Cabella will be expected to deliver yet another impressive season.

The 2017/18 season was Cabella’s best since 2013/14. In between these two notable campaigns were disappointing moves to Newcastle and Marseille, both where Cabella struggled to establish himself and hold down a place in his team’s first eleven. However, it seems that Cabella has finally found a suitable club and home after years of searching.
