AST Bearings has moved its East Coast headquarters to a new 35,000 square foot facility in Parsippany, New Jersey. Only a few miles from its previous location, AST expects the new location to improve its engineering, laboratory, packaging and warehouse capabilities.

The move proved to be an opportunity to enhance practically every facet of AST’s operations, and was planned by a multi-departmental team. Drawing from years of experience in their previous home, the planning focused on ensuring that the new layout would endorse efficiency and speed.

For example, building flow was carefully scrutinized and is reflected in the final layout. The path of the parts allows for direct movement from shelves to the laboratory for preparation, into the clean room for relubrication and finally to packaging. Similarly, the warehouse layout was carefully considered to best accommodate an efficient workspace that will allow for faster processing and shipping.

Another major improvement to the new facility is the addition of a second, cutting-edge degreaser. With the cleaning of bearings, lubrication and relubrication being a staple of AST’s value-added services, this piece of equipment serves as a significant upgrade, allowing us to increase capacity and better serve our customers’ needs. Additionally, the machine is environmentally friendly, preventing the production of toxic waste associated with traditional degreasers.
