According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, two legendary names were originally discussed to join the commentary team for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship match at ALL IN this past weekend.

Nick Aldis, who dropped the title to Cody Rhodes in an emotional match based on Aldis wanting to make his son proud versus Cody’s quest to live up to his father’s legacy, reportedly wanted Mike Tenay to be involved in calling the bout, believing it would add a legitimate old school feel to the contest.

Tenay apparently was in talks with Conrad Thompson, who put together the four-day Starrcast convention surrounding the pay-per-view, but no official conversation was had between him and Cody, and obviously nothing came together. Tenay had a long tenure with WCW in the 90s before becoming the voice of TNA Wrestling, where the NWA title was the primary championship for many years.

Another name discussed was Tony Schiavone, who was in town for the Starrcast convention, but he had a previously obligation to call a college football game and left Chicago before ALL IN took place.
