Last weekend at NXT Takeover: Chicago, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch battled Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly of The Undisputed Era to a hard-hitting, critically praised bout for the NXT Tag Team Championships. As it turns out, the match was a lot more “hard-hitting” than previously thought.
According to PWInsider.com, 32-year-old Oney Lorcan suffered a broken orbital bone during the tag title match and will be undergoing surgery “as soon as possible”.
Depending on the severity of the injury and barring any complications during surgery, the recovery time isn’t terribly long. New Japan star Michael Elgin broke his orbital bone during a match in 2016 and was out of action nearly three months. More recently, Eddie Edwards broke several bones in his face after taking a baseball bat to the eye on Impact Wrestling, and was only out about two months.
