Speaking to Le Parisien, Eric Abidal’s wife has explained the impact of her husband’s affair with Kheira Hamraoui, which was revealed during the investigation into the November attack on the PSG women’s player.
Hayet Abidal, who has since filed for a divorce, explains that she “knew [Hamraoui] when she arrived as a player at Barcelona in 2018,“ where Eric Abidal was Sporting Director at the time. “We became friends, she knew my children. I helped her to integrate as I do with many players who settle here.”
Hayet Abidal has also revealed that she has heard recordings of Hamraoui mocking her marriage. “I’m devastated. I haven’t slept since I heard that. This girl came to my house, I opened the doors of my house to her… I came to support her during her matches in Barcelona… My children still remember her. And this is how she talks about me and my family. This girl is evil.”
She went on to explain that “our marriage went through a lot of dark periods which I do not prefer to talk about and, of course, Kheira Hamraoui was not the first. Under no circumstances did Eric ask me for forgiveness face-to-face, as he never defended me from accusations or rumours that weighed on me. I blame him terribly.”
