Foot Mercato report this afternoon that Lyon are looking to sign Köln midfielder Ellyes Skhiri, with the 26-year-old a replacement for Newcastle-bound Bruno Guimarães.
The former Montpellier man has impressed in Germany since joining in 2019, and is Lyon’s priority, although the club have also looked into loaning in PSG’s Ander Herrera or bringing in Téji Savanier of Montpellier or Oral Mangala Stuttgart. The Tunisian himself is open to the move and is very interested in joining Lyon, as a close source told Foot Mercato.
Currently on international duty with Tunisia at the Africa Cup of Nations, the midfielder is nevertheless likely to leave for a high price as his club have no intention of letting one of their best players leave. Lyon have around €15m to spend on finding a replacement for Guimarães.
