PSG vs Istanbul Basaksehir will occur on Wednesday at 18:55 local time after the game was suspended following an alleged incident of racism.

The game will not be restarted. The starting XIs will have to be the same and the game will be picked up with a completely new set of referees.

The incident that led to the game’s suspension appears to have unfurled as follows.

On review of the footage, the referee, Ovidiu Haţegan, appears to ask who he should give the red card to from the bench, with 4th official Sebastian Colţescu responding: “ala negru,” which in Romanian can translate to “the black [guy],” provoking the incident that followed.

Pierre Webo, former Cameroonian attacker, was the assistant coach and individual sent off and was the target of the racist language on the part of the 4th official. Demba Ba led his teammates to refuse to continue play.

Pierre Webo then says after being sent off to the 4th official: “Why did you say n*gro, why did you say n*gro?”

Demba Ba immediately after adds: “You never say: “This white guy.” Why when you mention a black guy, you have to say this black guy.”

Sebastian Colţescu responds, picked up on Téléfoot Chaine footage: “Negru in Romanian means black. I am not a racist.”

On review of the footage, Kylian Mbappé is one of the most vocal against the incident, making it clear to referee Ovidiu Haţegan that he will not continue playing if 4th official Sebastian Colţescu is not removed from the field.

Presnel Kimpembe is picked up on RMC cameras adding once he understood the gravity of the situation: “WHAT? WHAT? Is he serious? We are heading in. We are heading in. That is it, we are heading in.”

The players then headed down the tunnel and would ultimately not return. Demba Ba & Marquinhos came up with the idea for both teams to come back out onto the pitch, hand in hand, in a stand against racism. However, there was disagreement in the Istanbul Basaksehir dressing room as some players quite simply have no intention of playing tonight.
