Speaking in an interview with Ouest France, Lyon attacker Claudio Beauvue astonishingly moved to suggest that he did not get along with partner Alexandre Lacazette on the pitch and refused to suggest that he was happy at OL.

On Lacazette:

“Everybody was describing us as friends after that photo that was published in June… but on the pitch, it is not the case, it is something else.”

On his arrival at Lyon:

“I have arrived at a new club and the football that is played at Lyon is not the same as at Guingamp. It is up to my teammates to adapt to my style of play, my qualities and my characteristics. And me, from my side, I also need to adapt myself and better myself in certain phases of play.”

On Beauvue’s qualities:

“Everybody knows what they are, it is my aerial game and to work from deep. I like to take space, to open things up for the midfields to exploit the situation with direct football. I had this relationship at Guingamp with Younousse (Sankharé), Mandanne and Pied. At Lyon, it is more of a a keep-ball style of play, a game with more passes. less direct. There also a fair amount of new players in the squad, we will therefore need time to put our game style in place, but it is not easy.”

On the media:

“I avoid reading the press, to listen to what is going on on the radio, or on TV. The critics are part of the job and the job is to criticise certain people. For me, my job, is to play football.”
