Rachid Ghezzal is on the verge of signing a five-year deal with AS Monaco, Goal understands.

The winger’s contract with Olympique Lyonnais ended at the end of June, leaving the Algerian as a free agent throughout the summer window.

Now it seems as though his transfer saga will come to an end, with Ligue 1’s defending champions offering up a long-term deal to get his signature. 

While Ghezzal had offers from Zenit, Nice and Celta Vigo and was drawing interest from Milan, Southampton and Everton, he has chosen to stay in Ligue 1 to continue his career. 

Monaco had shown interest in the player for several months and came back in for his services this week, with his agent in the principality on Friday.

Goal understands that there are still a few details to work out before the deal is done, but that the player wants to sign and will have medicals as soon as Monday.
