Robbie Fowler doesn’t think that Luis Suarez deserves the adulation he gets off the Liverpool supporters, while he claims Michael Owen did a lot more for the club than the Uruguayan.
Suarez returned to Anfield on Tuesday night as Liverpool beat Barcelona 4-0 in the second leg to overturn a three-goal deficit from the first leg at the Camp Nou.
Few expected to see the Reds make it to next month’s Madrid finale after a 3-0 first-leg defeat, but the five-time European champions will face Ajax or Tottenham after digging deep in stunning fashion.
The striker was at Anfield for three-and-a-half years in which time he scored 82 goals in 133 matches, while he bagged 31 in his final campaign as Liverpool narrowly missed out on the Premier League title.
Despite that, he only won the League Cup during his time with Liverpool and Fowler is uncomfortable with how much love he gets from Liverpool fans.
“I have a big problem with the way the fans love him,” Fowler said on BT Sport.
“He started playing well because he wanted to leave. Michael Owen did far more for this club than he ever did. His antics against Liverpool showed no respect.”
