Jose Mourinho thinks both Jurgen Klopp and Maurcio Pochettino “both deserve to win a trophy” this season after Liverpool and Tottenham reached the Champions League final.
Twenty-four hours after Liverpool’s comeback against Barcelona, Spurs were dead and buried at half-time of their semi-final second leg in Amsterdam as they trailed 3-0 on aggregate.
But Lucas Moura completed a stunning second-half hat-trick, with the third coming deep into injury time, to sends Spurs through to a first ever Champions League final on away goals and spark amazing scenes in the Johan Cryuff ArenA.
And Mourinho had praise for both Klopp and Pochettino after they masterminded two stunning semi-final comebacks.
“I think that a very good quality for a manager is to read the battle, to read your soldiers and their qualities and try to win that battle,” Mourinho told beIN Sports.
“Football is to have fun, to make people jumping in front of their screens for the past two days.
“But football is about winning.
“To speak about the final, I will be in trouble, because I like Mauricio and Jurgen very, very much and I think they both deserve to win a trophy.
“The first trophy for Jurgen with Liverpool, the first trophy for Mauricio with Spurs.”
Mourinho added: “I think it will be a fantastic final and I just hope Liverpool and Spurs fans enjoy Madrid.
“I hope they behave amazingly well, and they give to football the same things that both teams are giving.”
